@aurelius - just checking, but you do know i sent you battle 2 around 12 days ago now? we are not used to this quietness on the Ost front 😉
I've spent the last ten days writing an appeal to a detention order and a written response to the indictment (with up to 17 years of prison time). Essentially, I've been locked in my office, writing. I need a couple of more days of rest, I feel like I've fried my brain.
@guardsman @deadpanic I am ready to step back into the ring, you can expect your respective turns tomorrow at the latest. My appeal got upheld, so all the labor and waiting were worth it! 😀
@stoneage and @jackal338 - Your Hell in the Hedgerows Battle #2 is set up and in the battle DropBox. Turn 1 is to StoneAge. Please use the same passwords as previous. Briefings are in the side-specific folders, but there's not much to tell other than the reinforcement schedule.
Casualties have been accounted for and units re-organized as needed. A number of platoons and companies will be down 1-2 subunits.
Have a good game! IT has been very exciting thus far!
I'm back! Sorry for the extended absence but I'm finally getting caught up on life again...
@guardsman @aurelius @onepingonly I also apologise for my absence, I spent the week helping the Father-in-law renovate.
@aurelius I think I’m going to call it there. I’m happy to keep playing if you want, but that “flank” was about all I could muster with the forces I’ve got left.
@aurelius Well played mate, and congrats on the win. You played that really well from start to finish.
I think there was probably a bit of a mismatch in skill level there — unfortunately I was the one bringing the lower end of the equation!
Really enjoyed it though. Good game and well deserved.
@aurelius and @deadpanic -
Go ahead and go through the CF cycle so you can see the end screen for Noville.
I'll update the casualty tracker so you can see what each side brought to the party and what damage was done over the 3 games.
This was an excellent series to pop in and watch. I wish these series were more conducive to During Action Reports, but understand the OPSEC risk.
You are free to provide feedback on the map, the objectives, the over process, etc.
I appreciate the feedback re: process already provided by DeadPanic. I will use it for future battles.
@aurelius @deadpanic - I processed the CF on the German side, but CM is sending thru one more turn cycle....
Congrats to @aurelius and @deadpanic for finishing the Noville 3-battle mini-campaign, and to @aurelius for his victory in said campaign.
Gentlemen, I have moved the Force/Casualty trackers to the common Dropbox so you can see what each other purchased for the campaign and the casualties by battle. For others, the Noville mini-campaign is one of my "pick-your-own-force" campaigns where each player buys all their units up front for the campaign and they get phased in over 3 battles. Purchasing is a game unto itself.
@deadpanic 's Germans took 136 total casualties out of 439 soldiers, and lost 13 of 24 vehicles - including most of the armor. A Battle 3 attack to capture the Bois Grese crossroads was repulsed with significant armor losses.
@aurelius ' US forces took 130 casualties of 342 soldiers, and lost 9 of 36 vehicles. Most of his casualties occurred in Battle #2 in trying to slow down the German advance through the forest.
I hope you guys had fun, and please let me know what you think could/should be adjusted for others.
@guardsman @onepingonly I apologise for my tardiness. I’ve only just returned from a work trip and, unfortunately, had very limited to no phone service while I was away.
Thank you, @Guardsman and @aurelius for playing (playtesting?) the Komarno, Hungary 1945 mini-campaign. Guardsman takes the win for the Germans in this one, duplicating the historical outcome. The Soviet player has a difficult task of attacking across mostly open ground in winter against a prepared position. The Germans have a difficult task of facing down waves of Soviet tanks and infantry. The Germans lost 175 men, 20 tanks & jagdpanzers, and 13 other vehicles in defending, while inflicting 291 Soviet casualties and destroying 25 tanks and 20 other vehicles. The German MVP was artillery, accounting for 76 casualties in the 2nd battle alone.
There are definitely some tweaks I will make to both sides and the maps on this one before offering it up again.
