I recently bumped my RAM from 16 to 32 MB at a cost of about $220 or so. I guess it could have been worse?

The mantis shrimp’s punch is absurd — it’s one of the fastest strikes in the animal kingdom, and the slow-mo makes it even more ridiculous.

Stumbled across this old Popular Mechanics ‘Just Patented’ page ⚙️ — a square-wheeled military vehicle concept from the 1950s. 🪖 Yep… square tires. 🤔  The idea was a floating axle and gear system to smooth out rough terrain. Never really caught on, but I love seeing how far outside the box inventors were thinking back then. 😄

Interesting one:

Dead sea newspaper Medium

Did you know the Dead Sea is so salty that people can easily float on the surface without trying? The water is about ten times saltier than the ocean, which makes it nearly impossible to sink. Even stranger, because of the extreme salt concentration, fish and most other life can’t survive there — which is how it got its name.

Strange one:

sargassum 800 Medium

Did you know there’s a place in the Atlantic Ocean called the Sargasso Sea that has no coastline at all? It’s a “sea” completely surrounded by ocean currents rather than land. Sailors historically described drifting through huge floating fields of seaweed there, sometimes in eerie calm winds. Pretty strange idea — a sea with no shores anywhere.

Weird one:

 Mh6AHKmKoPp gfPSswb2wgymE4fr18BBOAwUvTupaNjfegPAE1PVodx7KeAd3GcOBNzaYpyyIg7qO1mWUsSVV6UOp 1hASuedVIhg gwIE Medium

One of the strangest animals ever discovered is the Axolotl. It stays in its juvenile form its entire life — basically a salamander that never grows up. Even weirder, it can regrow entire limbs, parts of its heart, and even parts of its brain if damaged. Scientists study them because their regeneration abilities are almost science-fiction level.
