@panzer-lehr These seem to be Austro-Hungarians, there is a distinct lack of šajkača- the field caps of these soldier look a lot like Austrian field cap. Typical soldier of the Serbian Army looked like this>

By far, the most moving image from the war is this one.

A father visited his son on the frontline, near Belgrade, 1914/15.

@aurelius Good catch—that one slipped in from a Balkan collection and I didn’t scrutinize it closely enough. Uniform details don’t line up with Serbian troops, so it’s been removed. Much appreciated 👍

Serbian soldiers on the Salonika front, 1916-1918 Mauser Chauchat light machine gun.

I am afraid that there is no such thing as a ''Mauser Chauchat'' light machine gun.

Chauchat was a French designed and produced Lmg. Certain variants used the 7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge but that's about it. Mauser had nothing to do

with the weapon it self.
