1944 ad by Focke-Wulf.
Text:
"Focke-Wulf has been building airplanes for 20 years. We join in the vastly increased use of labor and technology in the German aircraft industry. We are thus helping to solve the great tasks of the day, the fulfillment of which will bring about a New Order in Europe.
After the victorious end to this war for European self-determination, we will return to peacetime production. Using the knowledge we have gained as well as our proven productivity, we will build better planes to meet the high expectations of coming European air traffic".
1942. Shows a German soldier attacking the Bolshevist dragon, with the caption: “The Reich and Europe are winning.”
Der Schulungsbrief (The Educational Letter) was the Nazi Party monthly publication for political education.
“We beat them before — we are beating them now — and we will keep beating them.”
1941 Soviet propaganda poster linking the fight against Nazi Germany to the medieval defeat of the Teutonic Knights — history used as motivation for a new war.

Anne Mergen: First Lady of Editorial Cartoons During World War II
The September 1943 cartoon is less ironic as it is a call to action. Mergen’s drawing is in clear support of the war effort which had kicked into high gear. She suggests a special Christmas package for Hitler and Tojo. In “Time to Send Those Overseas Packages,” the happy customer buys hangman’s nooses for the two leaders from Uncle Sam with war bonds and stamps.

As the war in Europe raged on, so did the debate within the United States about whether America should get involved in the war overseas. Isolationist voices were loud when Mergen took on the issue on March 10, 1941. In view of new technologies like air travel changing the notion of distance considerably, her “Isolationist, huh?” cartoon pokes fun at the idea that anyone in the modern world would consider such a stance defensible.

Willie & Joe by Bill Mauldin, 1944. Drawn by Mauldin while he was serving as a soldier himself, it captured the real frontline humor better than any briefing ever could.

Bill Mauldin, serving as an infantryman in the 45th Infantry Division, wasn’t imagining the war—he was living it, and that’s why soldiers saw themselves in every muddy, exhausted line he drew. Not everyone appreciated that honesty; George S. Patton famously bristled at his cartoons, but the troops couldn’t get enough of them. His work struck such a chord that he earned the Pulitzer Prize in 1945, and he went on to become one of America’s great political cartoonists.
Hard to beat a guy who carried a rifle and a sketchbook—and knew exactly which one told the real story.
