German troops in Athens, Greece, May 1941 ww2dbase
I am afraid that this is not Athens but Katerini, a city located some 90 Km South of Thessaloniki and some 290 km N-NE of Athens.
The photo was taken on 14/04/1941 when Germans entered Katerini. Location is Eleftherias (Freedom) Square.
Check the link (is in Greek but you can use the translate option) below for more pictures from the same day and some interesting geolocation information.

The German flag was raised over Acropolis on 27/04/1941. This picture was taken on that day.

Greek resistance fighters operating a mortar during World War II.
I am afraid that these are not resistance fighters and this is not WWII.
This is a mortar crew of LOK (Mountain Infantry Company) during Greek Civil war. They are wearing the distinctive, green (not visible in the black/white
picture), beret which is now the the official headwear of Hellenic's army commando units.

Actually these are SBS members photographed together with a couple of Greek civilians and two Greek police officers.

@panzer-lehr those look bigger than 6 inch guns.
You are perfectly right @nort .
In fact Georgios Averof did not sport any 6'' guns.
These twin guns were 9,2'' guns.
See a very comprehensive website about Averof.
Launching and Extra Features - Floating Naval Museum Battleship Georgios Averof
Note that Averof holds a special place in Hellenic Naval history as almost by it self managed to keep the Ottoman fleet at bay during 1st Balkan war and thus
the Ottomans were not able to reinforce their armies fighting in the Balkan front with units from Anatolia.
@nort Thanks Gregg... The source had it wrong. Cheers Mate!
