Italian partisan photographed in a village in Piedmont, a region of Italy that borders France and Switzerland. Oct 1944.
He practically made a bulletproof vest out of the bullets magazines.

Two Italian Fiat G.55 Centauro fighter aircraft, 1940s, on flight. By the time the war ended, fewer than 300 had been built. By comparison, the Germans produced 35,000 Bf 109s.

Allied armor and infantry moving through the ruins during the Italian campaign, 1944.

Italy became a slow, grinding war of mountains, rivers, and shattered towns — a far cry from the rapid advances seen elsewhere. Every ridge and village had to be fought for, turning the campaign into one of attrition where persistence mattered as much as firepower. Many veterans later described Italy as one of the toughest fronts of the war.

An Aosta Valley schoolteacher turned partisan stands among the snowbound fighters of the “White Patrol” near the Little St. Bernard Pass in January 1945. Operating in brutal alpine conditions, these resistance groups waged a largely unseen war against both Nazi and Fascist forces along the French–Italian frontier.
