With the ending of some of the WW2 mini-campaigns I have been hosting, I am pleased to present 4 options for some CMCW action:
1) Soviets vs. BAOR in 1977, 5424x2544 map, 3 battles. Campaign victory is determined by holding the majority of terrain objectives.
2) Soviets vs. US in 1978, 5424x2544 map, 4 battles. Campaign victory is determined by holding the majority of terrain objectives.
3) Soviets vs. Canadians in 1978, 3360x2160 map, 4 battles. Campaign victory is determined by the number of Soviet units that penetrate to a defined depth.
4) Soviets vs. US in 1982, 2608x3648 map, 3 battles. Campaign victory is determined by holding terrain and destroying key units.
These are ranked in difficulty order for the Soviet player.
Each campaign begins with a recon/counter-recon battle, then escalates with more forces joining the fight for battles 2 & 3 (or 4). Each side features a 3:1 Soviet/NATO attacker/defender ratio across most types of assets, and a full spectrum of assets (mech infantry, armor, air support, artillery, special forces, fortifications, mines) will be employed. OOB are set up for a full Cold War gone hot experience. It's not for the faint-hearted. Both sides will be pushed.
The campaign includes interesting aspects such as: 1) use of recon to gain intel % for subsequent battles, 2) fighting for an EW advantage, 3) positioning of on-map engineers to create fortifications for the next battle, 4) ability to impact opponent reinforcement timing.
@Alby and I have playtested #1 and this informed revision of #1 and creation of #2-#4. TBH, the BAOR campaign was one of the best CM experiences I have ever had. I'll let @alby leave a testimonial if he wishes.
You'll need a good computer and time (the campaigns run ~120 minutes of game time). Here is a link to the "sanitized" maps if people want to check if they can run them:
Dropbox File (Private or Invalid)
If interested, give me a shout! I'd love to see some folks run through these!
@aurelius is looking for a Soviet opponent for BAOR.
This format is quite good. OPO has a great system for supporting multiple battles and I agree that the CMCW series we finishing now is also amongst the best PBEM i have ever played.
I'm hoping that i can still play in the campaign! im not going to play the official slitherine tournament as i have learned my lesson there. so, this would be a fantastic way to get my CM fix against waaaaay better competition.
i think people might be scared to play @aurelius because of how bad he wrecked me in the Dharani campaign.
My blunder in CMRT tell otherwise...

Definitely! The Canadian and US campaigns each have a different vibe to what we did in BAOR... especially on the NATO side. Let me know if you have a campaign and side you prefer and we'll see if we can get you matched up! I have no particular objection to you doing BAOR again, either, although - despite some changes - there won;t be much surprise for you.
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome! I guess that makes me Tina Turner 😆 .
Looks like there is gentlemen's agreement for @alby (US) vs @aurelius (Soviets) for the 1982 mini-campaign. Just a little earlier than Thunderdome (1985) 🙂 . I'll get things set up.
I'm happy to accommodate an additional pairing in any of the 3 mini-campaigns, if there is more interest.
I'd be honored to step in if there's a spot available.
Welcome back, @gorst ! Good to see you again! Let me know if you have a preference on side and whether Sov vs Brits 1977, Soviet vs Canadians 1978, Soviet vs US 1978, or Soviet vs US 1982. Or if you do not care.
Anyone up for one of these mini-campaigns vs. Gorst? He's a a good player, good turn rate, etc etc.
No preferences. I'll play any campaign, any side.
