Sherman Commander demo is available on Steam. I played only one tutorial mission, looks interesting

Thanks for the heads-up @zaraza. I looked it up and the idea of commanding a Sherman while also managing the broader tactical situation sounds pretty interesting. 🪖⚙️
Not many WWII games seem to try that tank sim + tactical layer combination. I’ve already got a bit of a gaming backlog at the moment, but I may have to give the demo a look at some point. 🎮

Yeah, I bought this title on Saturday and played the tutorial last night. I will say it's fairly easy to get the hang of. You spend most of your time buttoned up, and it gives you a pretty good feel of fighting buttoned up. You're fighting with infantry and other tanks, so I recommend reviewing your platoon- and company-size combined arms tactics. My rig got hit with a couple of glancing shots but I took out a Mk III, two MG42 nests, and a rifle quad with my coax. It reminds me of Panzer Elite back in the day, but the infantry and other tanks aren't stupid. Since I also own Steel Fury and Tank Squad I might play each this week just to get a sense of the strengths and weaknesses of each title.
I could not get the demo to work. It kept freezing or crashing.
@otosan Darn Otosan, that is unfortunate. I was looking forward to getting your impressions.
I got it working. First impression is that it is visually good and exciting. The criticism I have is that it tries to have the player do too much. It's called Sherman Commander and you are a tank commander but you are actually in charge of 3 infantry platoons and a tank platoon. That is too much to handle and you spend 90% of your time on the map moving units around. You are actually playing the role of a micromanaging battalion commander, not a Sherman tank commander.
At most you should be in charge of a tank platoon.
@otosan I agree you are burdened with a lot, but according to the development tree the various UNIT AI's will address the division of command and labor better.
They only give 45 minutes to complete the demo. LOL, first time through I only made it to the end of the street and lost 2 tanks.
