It's been slow going of late, but the paint job looks to have been restarted after some more funds have arrived for its completion. 

I was really hoping they would allow for the natural wood color to shine through just some kind of finishing coat, Unfortunately...nupe.

Still looks mighty handsome though doesn't she?

Haha, I’m torn on this one too. Part of me really wanted that natural wood look to survive — there’s just something about seeing the original character of the ship shine through. But I guess preservation goals win over our aesthetic dreams 😄

That said… she still looks absolutely mighty. Every time I see the Texas getting attention again, it feels like history refusing to fade away.

Also watched the videos — the painting work is fascinating, but the history one really hits home. Hard to believe how much this old lady has seen and survived.

Even when I disagree with the finish choice, I can’t help but admire the effort going into keeping her alive.
