These movies are running on Netflix until June 19th, then they're gone. Don't know where they are after that.
These are action movies for those who like action movies. I mean the special effects are...well, special.
And enough gunfire to satisfy even the toughest critic.
However, what makes these movies special is the cast and the dialogue. The repartee is just hilarious in spots as the guys are clearly having a good time just fooling around. And check this cast out just for Expendables 2: Sly Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liam Hemsworth, and Steve Austin. That pretty says all I need to say as for how much fun these movies are. Action stars as far as you can see! I'm still shaking my head in wonder at that cast.
Oh, just saw that #2 (and maybe the others) is on YouTube for $4 so there's that.
"So what's the plan?" - Lee Christmas (Statham)
"Track him. Find him. Kill him!" - Barney Ross (Stallone) Oh Hell yeah!!

OMG. I'm a little over half way done with #3 and Mel Gibson has just taken over the movie as the weapons dealer and ultimate bad guy.
He is freaking amazing! LOL

@mtk I think you've nailed exactly why these movies work. If you go into them expecting The Godfather, you're in the wrong theater. But if you want to watch virtually every action hero from the 80s and 90s trade one-liners while blowing up half the planet, they're an absolute blast.
Expendables 2 is still my favorite just because the cast list is so ridiculously over-the-top. It's basically an action movie fan's fever dream. And you're right about Mel Gibson in #3 — he had no business being that entertaining as the villain, but he absolutely steals every scene he's in.
The movies know exactly what they are, and everyone involved seems to be having a great time making them. Sometimes that's all you need: impossible body counts, questionable physics, and enough explosions to satisfy the "more dakka" crowd.
"Overkill is underrated," indeed. 😄

One of the most horrible features of war is that all the war-propaganda, all the screaming and lies and hatred, comes invariably from people who are not fighting.
