While I was returning from my Summer sojourn in Western Michigan, I passed a HyVee grocery truck. For most of you not from the Midwest or the US for that matter, HyVee is a regional grocery store chain. Why was I impressed by a grocery store truck? This was no ordinary truck. HyVee's livery is red, with their name on the door and the cab spoiler of the tractor. This Tractor was gold; it had "HyVee painted on the tractor door, but it also had 'Million Mile Driver without an Accident" Painted on it. It also had that and HyVee painted on its spoiler. The driver had his own personal tractor honoring the fact he had driven over a million miles, that's 1.6 million kilometers for everyone else, without an accident. Think about that for a second. That's 50000 miles a year for 20 years. And this guy is not a transcontinental hauler; he's a regional hauler. Like holy, holy hell. I am seriously impressed. @Hedgehog, you being a retired trucker, what's your take?

Happily retired, I worked till I was 72, am now 88, this year 2026 I will be 89
