Guys.... Ive said it 4 times now on the site. Imgur does not work.
It may work for a percentage of the crowd, but we need an image sharing site that works for everyone.
I suggest Flickr. @lacigal I seen you used a different one also... what was that.
At present everyone who posts Imgur content is serving all the UK guys this...

What's up with that? Is the Gov't going to start deciding what were allowed to look at online now... Sheesh... I'm sure Canada isn't far behind...
Nope it was Imgur blocked the UK... not the other way around.
Imgur was blocked in the UK after the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) informed its parent company of its intention to fine the company for failing to protect children's data. In response, Imgur blocked access for all users in the UK, calling it a commercial decision.
If there is any update on this I will let you know.

yes, i've tried postimages https://postimages.org/ , that seems free "Get permanent links for forums, blogs, and social media." and easy to use. It says that advertising is enabled, but I haven't seen any ads. No need to create an account but i I don't know how reliable it is.
Can you see that image ?

Another one with no account too : imggb https://imgbb.com/

Image looks good here in Canada lol!
@lacigal what code are you posting to stop it linking back to the postimages site?

Well that seems to work.
Although Trustpilot hates them. Urgh.
It worked for some time. Then it replaced the images by a blue logo saying we should upgrade. That makes it look very unprofessional. They should not promote it as a free service.
Perhaps once you decide on an approved image link site someone can leave the Coles notes on how to do it properly to avoid a constant back and forth of what did I do wrong thread... P.S. anything "free" on the internet is basically a data mining operation imho... And your site already got hacked so I defer to your judgement on what is acceptable to use on this new site...
Yeah I am consolidating my thoughts into one thread.

Yes i saw that on truspilot 🙄
Perhaps we can keep that thread for testing purpose, to see if the situation occurs.
The reason why i've tested imgbb too, i like the drag & drop https://imgbb.com/ /a>
@fgmbootie There is no rush to get this site to where it was as awesome as it was. You're starting over from scratch and we are grateful to you for not giving up and walking away. I'm not an IT expert but due diligence as I'm sure your more than aware of is required to avoid any near term issues with just going with what seems to work not that you have an endless amount of spare time to do all that work. Any forum members that have IT experience of contacts should chime in and help you with suggestions that fit your needs for the site with the minimum amount of risk for you and the membership. I wish I was skilled enough to offer my assistance but alas I'm not in that camp.
@lacigal Websites that offer services for free in general are data mining your info and selling it.... That's why it's free.... I do however think TFGM does not sell our data but is a genuine labour of love and a community of interesting individuals with a passion for military history and tactics...
Bootie Were grateful to you for what you did and what your doing now... You don't need to rush... And were all here to help you all you have to do is ask...

Yes, I understand. I'm just testing things out and don't have any stake in the solutions I've tried. I use a lot of open source services and software, and maybe I'm naive, but I don't think everyone behaves this way. An alternative solution could be to host a platform like Nextcloud independently of the WordPress site.
I have some ideas to help and have the time currently to to do it...
PM me if you like and I'm sure I'm not the only member that's interested in helping you that's for sure..
@lacigal I didn't mean to imply you were doing it wrong or that trying to find solutions was not done correctly I'm probably much less competent than you in this realm. I'm just being a bit of a dick as I'm cautious of "free" convenience in our digital world.
Hope this finds you well..
Best
Since Bootie is starting from scratch maybe we could have a TFGM thread of tasks that he would like the membership to help him with?
