Thought it might be worthwhile to start a place where members can share something a little more personal — photos of family members who served, wartime letters, medals, stories passed down, or anything connected to your own family’s WWII history.
Big campaigns and famous battles are well covered elsewhere in the galleries. This one is about the people — the fathers, uncles, grandparents, and relatives behind the uniforms.
No need for long write-ups unless you want to. A photo and a short story are perfect.

My father, also Arthur, served in WWII from 1943–1946, and later returned to duty from 1948–1951 as a Naval officer.
During the Korean conflict he was assigned to the 1st Marine Division, providing oral surgery at Camp Pendleton. Like so many of the "Greatest Generation", he simply did his part — he is the tall, handsome fellow in the center.

Interesting thread @panzer-lehr . Naturally, no one in my family was there or in other wars. But I applaud your initiative.
