In 1949, she was refloated and scrapped at San Rocco di Muggia.

I looked into it and found the following:
"At the time of this attack, SS Giulio Cesare had been laid up unused for over a year, and indeed the red crosses and Italian flags on the sides had completely faded away, whereas the crosses on the funnels were still visible although also faded. Still, the pilots who sank her were initially reprimanded as their superiors saw the photos and also thought that they had sunk a hospital ship".
