Does anyone know if there are new units in the DLC or just new maps and scenarios ? Are the maps and scenarios compatible with a non updated SF2? I have a Mac and I can't even buy the new DLC but am interested checking out the maps and scenarios.

No, there are no new units in this DLC. The current definition Battle Packs are only maps, scenarios and campaigns using existing units. Some might only require the base game some other Modules. I don't actually know the dependencies of this battle pack.

No. The DRM will prevent you from loading new scenarios with an non patched version of the game/

Yeah that sucks for you. You cannot get a patch for your Mac install and therefore will not be able to use the content from the battle pack.

As far as I know there were no fixes in the update just support for the new DLC (the code changes to add the icon plus whatever back end stuff needs to happen). I thought the Gill was fixed long ago but I admit I did not pay strict attention to that. Is this a case of the fix is not to your liking but a change was made or is this something that hasn't changed?

I am reasonably sure there never was an attempted fix for the Gill.
I can't test right now (CMSF2 on Mac and no activation server).
