Part 1 - Fredrocker's Simis March vs Kandu's Operation Coup de Main and Operation Tonga

Both of these campaigns are fought over the same ground. Both campaigns are fun and challenging to play. There are three scenarios in each of these two author's campaigns that can be compared to each other.

Fredrocker's "Ham and Jam" vs Kandu's "Operation Coup de Main / Coup de Main"

Fredrocker's "Pegasus Crossing" vs Kandu's "Operation Coup de Main / Boats and Planes"

Fredrocker's "High Ground Amfreville" vs Kandu's "Operation Tonga / Commandos to the Rescue"

Fredrocker makes no claims regarding historical or geographical accuracy and his recreations might be described as 'inspired by historical events'.  Some of the hiccoughs include the following:1. In "Ham and Jam" the Ox and Bucks land in the wrong places. 2. D-Day lading. Fred has the Shimis actilng as the main landing.  Historically they landed in the second wave and were assigned to capture the 'big bunker' (failed) and the fortified casino (success), both in Ouistreham. The maps are a vague representation of the terrain fought over.

Kandu's maps, while not perfect, go farther towards accurately recreating the terrain having been based on contemporary topograpical maps and aerial photos of the area.

Part 2. Rokko's "Bloody Buron" vs Kandu's "Bloody Buron Overhaul"

The differences in two two authors' creations are more about interpretation and detail. Both appear are based on aerial recon photos of the area and the accounts and diagrams from "Bloody Buron" by Captain J. Allan Snowie. Kandu has placed more of the buildings, made the anti-tank ditches usable by infantry as was the case historically, added the destruction caused by artillery bombardments and removed Rocco's historically non-existent church spire.. The author's differ on how to adapt the terrain to the limitations of the game engine. Rokko correctly used trenches for the German positions and places them according to Snowie's diagram. Kandu replaced the trenches with CM's foxholes feeling that CM's trenches were more easily spotted and far too large to represent "slit" trenches. Also, Kandu place the German entrenchments where aerial recon revealed them to be - a fact that contradicts Snowie somewhat. Kandu's work benefitted from access to the War Diary of the Highland Light Infantry of Canada and its appendices and diagrams as well as record of German communications throughout the battle.

Part 3: Rather than continue a head to head comparison of my works, which could reasonably be considered to be biased, I have decided to just list the remaining scenarios or campaigns that I have created that as far as I am aware, cover the same events as the work of other authors. Let the reader compare.

130 Panzer Regiment auf dem Vormarsch (A. Leone) - Gruppe Bohm to Le Rocher (me)

Amfreville (M. Snyder) - Amfreville (me)

Devil's Hill (J. Martina) - Hill 75.9 Teufelsberg upgraded to Teufelsberg v7 (me)

La Fiere Causeway June 6 (M. Snyder) -  Angriffe der Grenadiere (me)

La Fiere Causeway June 9 (M. Snyder) - Saul's Run (me)

Merveille a Merville (Rocketman) - Merville Battery (me)

Spam and Jam (demione) - Panzers vs Paras ..or.. Crisis in Benouville .. or.. An Argument Over T (me)

TWC Counterattack at Moerkerke (M. Dorosh) - Moerkeke It Begins .. or .. Moerkeke Infiltrators .. or .. Moerkeke Stand To .. or ..Moerkerke Stubborn Canucks (me)

This is a really cool idea—same battlefield, different author “lens,” and you can feel the trade-offs between vibe vs research. 🪖🗺️ I love seeing how tweaks to terrain detail and fortifications change the whole fight. Great write-up, Kandu—now I want to play both versions back-to-back for science. 😄🥨
