Here's a good look at the new U.S. Army Bradley.

Hope those anti-rocket missless can do the job. I mean...look at the silhouette on that baby!?

I’ve always thought the Bradley just looks cool — low, tough, and ready for trouble. 😎🪖

This is really interesting and well done. "It sounds like something straight out of Halo."

Yes, yes it does!

@mtk Floating real estate for Marines — and that usually means things are about to get interesting in a hurry. 🪖

Then: The German Sd.Kfz. 251 halftrack — armor up front, tracks in back, built to keep infantry moving with the panzers across rough ground. Thinly armored but highly adaptable, it served in numerous roles from troop transport to command and fire support. It gave Panzergrenadiers the ability to stay close to advancing armor and fight with greater mobility than foot infantry.

image

Now: The Stryker — fully wheeled, faster on roads, digitally connected, and designed for rapid deployment with modern combined arms units. With variants ranging from infantry carrier to mobile gun system, it reflects a more modular and flexible approach to warfare. Improved protection, sensors, and communications allow units to operate with greater awareness and coordination on today’s battlefield. 🪖

Then: The M4 Sherman — reliable, easy to produce, and the backbone of Allied armored forces in WWII. Not the heaviest hitter on the battlefield, but its numbers, mobility, and mechanical dependability made it a war winner. It excelled as part of a combined arms approach, working closely with infantry, artillery, and air support.

Now: The M1 Abrams — heavily armored, fast, and packing a devastating 120mm gun, it represents the pinnacle of modern main battle tank design. Advanced composite armor, thermal sights, and digital systems give it unmatched survivability and battlefield awareness. Where the Sherman relied on numbers and coordination, the Abrams brings overwhelming firepower and technological dominance. 🪖

British Sherman Firefly Namur

Then: The Sherman Firefly — a pragmatic answer to a pressing problem. By fitting the powerful 17-pounder anti-tank gun into the reliable Sherman chassis, British crews suddenly had a weapon capable of taking on Panthers and Tigers at range. It was not elegant—the long barrel, cramped turret, and conspicuous profile made it a priority target—but it gave Allied forces a much-needed edge. Fireflies often operated within standard Sherman troops, providing the crucial punch that could turn an engagement against heavier German armor.

Now: The Challenger 2 — a purpose-built main battle tank designed from the ground up for survivability, precision, and sustained combat effectiveness. Featuring advanced composite armor, a highly accurate rifled gun, and modern fire-control systems, it excels at long-range engagements while keeping its crew protected. Integrated communications and battlefield awareness allow it to operate as part of a coordinated, networked force. Where the Firefly was an adaptation born of necessity, the Challenger 2 reflects decades of refinement in armored warfare doctrine and technology.

If you think that is a conspiracy you just have to look at the U.S. Patent office to see what the tech can do...

Then: The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) — low profile, no turret, and built for one thing: killing tanks and supporting infantry. Cheap to produce, easy to conceal, and deadly in ambush, it became one of Germany’s most effective armored vehicles. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was efficient—and in many cases, more practical than a full turreted tank.

Now: The Javelin anti-tank system — no armor, no crew exposed, and no need to stay and fight. Fire-and-forget, top-attack, and lethal against even the heaviest modern armor. Where the StuG relied on positioning and line-of-sight, the Javelin turns every concealed infantryman into a tank hunter with reach and precision. Same mission… just a very different way of doing it. 🪖

It's easy to understand why the "Hog" pilots love this beastie.

I mean, who wouldn't want to sit in a "titanium bathtub" while pulling the trigger on

a 30mm gun that goes BRRRT, BRRRT!

This is the first time I've ever heard about these problems with the B-29. What a mess!
