We already have topic about books and movies, and i think that comics deserve separate topic.
Comics have undergone a remarkable evolution, from newspaper one-liners ( or whatever those are called ), to master pieces.
So, number one on my list is The Incal. Created by artist Moebius ( also known as Jean Giraud ) and writer Alejandro Jodorowsky.
Story follows detective John Difool, who is antihero - cowardly, selfish, low class detective, who stumbles upon great artifact, and steps into fight between light and darkness...
This triggered spinoff called The Metabarons, also one of the great sagas.
