A moment of jubilation; Aug 1945. Japanese prisoners of war cheer on the deck of an Allied rescue ship after hearing the news of Japan's surrender, marking the end of war. Rather than sinking into sorrow, many Japanese prisoners of war sequestered on ships and in camps celebrated the end of the war, as it meant they would survive and eventually return to their home country.
