The Gothic incursion is going to be beaten off, I think. There's a chance still. A very tough fight, both sides going at it tooth and nail.

Yup, it’s 60% +/- max 2p.p. for both sides. Not healthy for the fainthearted or for those wishing to get perfect nails. Nailbiter! Goths got stronger nails, but Romans stronger teeth (I hope).
The Romans won, 61-58. A superb battle that was close all the way. Thanks @kronenblatt !

Thanks to YOU, @chiquichops ! I managed to assemble enough luck and coincidence to squeeze myself above the 60% threshold just before you did. This battle saw almost everything: hope, despair, deep despair, high hope, frustration, and then finally... RELIEF. At my end at least: Chiqui was probably dead calm throughout the 20-odd turns, inhumanly managing his troops like a robot with a stoneface. Or ? 🤣
Sounds like an epic humdinger of a fight -- glad you guys enjoyed it.
So, the Goths are kept out of PONTUS and @kronenblatt earns a Prestige Point for the Green faction for successfully defending the Empire against a Barbarian incursion.
Now we just need to see how things work out in PANNONIA.

One of the most horrible features of war is that all the war-propaganda, all the screaming and lies and hatred, comes invariably from people who are not fighting.

@cargol @kronenblatt -- any update or ETA on the battle for PANNONIA?

We’re unfortunately still very early in that battle: only missile engagement if even that. 😎

Indeed, still early. Once we get engaged, battle will progress quite quickly I believe.

Tidings from PANNONIA...
... kronenblatt wins 60-36 (+24).
Many thanks @cargol for the battle!
GREEN is victorious in PANNONIA with a +24% win. Emperor Carus's domains are shrinking.
That concludes TURN 2..

TURN 3
We move right along to the next turn.
The RED and PURPLE fleets are available for action again.
The BARBARIAN die roll is a 7 and a 5 ... which means the SASSANIDS attack PURPLE in SYRIA -- so if @chiquichops can set that one up.
Please NOTE: From this turn onwards we switch to the ATTACKER setting up the battle challenge -- I think it works better.
Still set yourself up a "Player B", so that the accepting player can immediately play the turn.
The Attack Orders Sequence:
1. PURPLE (+33%)
2. GREEN (+24%)
3. BLUE (+21%)
4. RED (-24%)
The PURPLE faction's true Emperor Riconius mobilises his fleet and sails across the Mare Occidentale to attack ITALIA and unseat the usurper Carus.
@kronenblatt -- you're up next with your attack.

I’m attacking Gallia from Pannonia, with Blatta.
Challenge set up , usual PWD

Challenge accepted. Good luck!
Please note that I will be travelling and I will be back online on Saturday.
@chiquichops -- accepted -- this is going to be a wild one.

GREEN attacks GALLIA from Pannonia -- it's generals Blatt and Fortis facing off in a fight to the death!
The way the attacks have played out means that we only have three battles this turn.
Good luck, everyone!

@kronenblatt Back in town. Will pick up the game tomorrow.
Hard fighting in SYRIA -- the cramped, hilly map with a big chunk of water (maybe Sassanids made it as far as the coast of Lebanon 😉 ) definitely favouring the Romans who are holding their own against @chiquichops all cavalry army. Arrows are running out and the Roman line is mostly holding.
Armies facing off in ITALIA vs @cargol ... and as we advance across the battlefield, we see that the traitorous Praetorian Guard remain loyal to the Red usurper Carus.
