Help with loading/running Combat mission games

Hi. Did you find a solution? I have exactly the same problem on my Thinkpad, no solution. I have had several pieces of advice from customer support at Slitherine and no joy, gave up months ago.

Yes, I did actually, is had something to do with the sound on the pc. Once I turned it on viola it worked!

Well, it was weird, I had all the games loaded and installed with no issues. But went I went to access the game it would just show an icon along the bar at the bottom of the screen briefly then nothing. I had my desktop set to a very high resolution that I couldn’t get the sound to work. So I changed the resolution down quite a bit and then trying the game and there it was. The sound worked on the lower res, I have no idea why, but it does. But I had read somewhere that the sound or absence of speakers hooked up play a part.

@buckykatt very odd! I'll try. I get the box with the play button, but when I click play , it just closes

@buckykatt  Do I change my desktop resolution or the graphics settings? I'm not sure what you mean, apologies, I'm very low-tech knowledge 

Do you have sound with your current desktop setting?

Are you able to adjust the volume?

Yes. I managed to run the game, after having given up on it a year ago. Crazy! Thanks for the tips. Slitherine were stumped and gave up on me ages ago. 

Now I can start looking for mods, get the game looking nice and look for opponents!

Did it have to do with the sound?
