Yes, we're probing Roman lines for weak spots. The Franks don't have much variety to play with. No medium infantry at all :/

Which map type did you get?
It was pot luck. Mixed hills and woods with some rough mixed in. Not enough to make another Teutoburg forest but the centurions are having to tamp down muttering in the ranks; "Don't much like the looks of those tall, half naked savages screaming and skulking about in the woods up ahead."

Battle is joined in AFRICA on a hilly desert map, first shots exchanged, the cavalry maneuvering for position ... the RED usurper has sent some of his praetorian guards to this fight... going to be a tough brawl.
