One thing to generally keep in mind though is for the player setting up the challenge to always do it with himself as Side/Player B. Because when the other player picks up the challenge, he then also gets it in his folder and can deploy, immediately if wanting to since already online. Instead of the game showing up with the first player, who may not be online again for some time.

I'm fine with the defender setting up, that way I might get another trainign game done, even if it's just vs. the AI... 😉

Question about this procedure.  In the first set up screen I have to pick side A Army and pick Side B Army.  If I am going to select myself as player B in the next screen after this, do I put my army in Side A or Side B on this first screen?

I would think I would have to put my army in the Pick side A Army because that is the only way that I could ever pick "own allies" if I needed to do that.

In the first set up screen (where you select the armies), you put your army as Side B and the opponent's army in Side A. In the next screen after that, you select yourself as Side B.

So in an Ancients example, where you are Carthaginian and will play against an Apulian player, with you setting up the challenge, you put Carthaginians as Side B:

Side B Army

Then in the next screen, you select Side B as the (i.e., your) player side:

Side B Army II

Sorry, been a bit slow to respond - got unfortunate work hours, but I got it sorted.
Please be gentle, I'm pretty new to this game and have only played the AI so far... 😳

We seem to be stalled with the King of France faction with @nathangun working crazy hours…

@chiquichops , can you fly solo for the moment and issue the attack order for France and take that battle?

@chiquichops @cargol

Just a reminder -- when you set up battle, it's:

King of France:  French (1350-1399)  vs   King of England Vassals: Breton (1350-1395) with Allies: English Continental (1350-1414)

The King of France faction attacks NORMANDY from Artois.

The Count of Toulouse faction attack the treacherous, back-stabbing Burgundians in DAUPHINE from Auvergne -  Rico will take command of that one, @kronenblatt to set up challenge.

That's all the attack declarations for Turn 1 done now... enjoy the battles!

@kronenblatt  -- set up done. Good luck.

Funny time of the year ... some guys working frantically, some guys tied up with family stuff... and some have LOTS of free time on their hands. 😉
