After checking the rules, I should go for recovering SPOLENTO to even have a chance of a marginal victory. Shame, BARI was within reach... We still lament missing PALERMO by a Norman whisker, sigh!

If still need a win in whatever Rico can throw at us and attacking SPOLENTO to pull this off!

Those last two battles were real corkers and nail biters. Lots of fun.

Will process the next turn a bit later -- need to do the German and Byzantine reinforcement die rolls. 😎

TURN 7 delivered two great, close battles ... with the Papal armies sneaking through a narrow win in SPOLENTO, while the Normans captured BRINDISI with a 4% winning margin.

Great battles @chiquichops

TURN 8

The final turn of the campaign and both sides have ONE Initiative Point each.

The Byzantines land an army in BARI -- but a little too little, too late.

The Normans attack northwards to try and recapture the Duchy of SPOLENTO from the Pope.

I'll stick with the Papal armies and attack the Principality of CAPUA.

@chiquichops  -- I'll set up the battles.

I see dead people.  I can't remember seeing the battle field being so littered with bodies.

@otosan Luckily, slightly more of them were Byzantines 😀

No, I literally meant that I don't see dead bodies like that during my battles. Maybe a setting?

No idea -- my game always was like that.

Enjoyed this, the narrative part of it is what I miss in my neverending series of FOG multiplayer battles, all with no bearing in an overarching story. (Chiquichops clued me in to this community during one of those MP battles.)

That's why we do these campaigns 🙂   -- welcome to the FGM. 😎

I'll post a few screenshots of the current battles. There's a lot on the line for both sides. I've steamed in pretty hard, trying to take the fight to @rico  in both of these but I'm taking a few silly risks already...

I think these will be over for the papal side pretty soon ... you got the fragment die results on speed dial in one, and the other battle's map is not good at all for the attacking Papal army -- which needs some luck as it is quite a bit weaker in the infantry department.

SPOLENTO so far has been quick and hard. I'll try to upload left, centre and right flank shots.

Well, I managed to upload screens but the quality isn't great. Left is looking shaky but right looks fine. I guess the centre has to hold.
