Wow, these battles are going to be a massacre -- between the two battles I've suffered 8 - 9 double morale drops straight to fragment -- two of  my units with a leader attached.

It's going to be a stroll in the park walkover for @chiquichops

Well, that was quite a disappointing end to the campaign -- instead of two fun, competitive battles to finish off a good campaign, I just got steamrollered and massacred by crazy dice results right from the start... there was no coming back from those first few contacts and instant fragments. 😣

I'm sure @chiquichops enjoyed it -- not so much fun from my side, alas.

Overall, a good campaign that worked very well -- even though playing the Byzantines will raise anyone's blood pressure...LOL

I'll update the final standings & map some time tomorrow.

It was a great campaign. I have to say, it was harder taking on the Papal armies than the Byzantines but I did find a tactic or two that helped a lot.

Two nice battles for me with a bit of lady luck thrown in.

Thanks @rico  for a good little campaign

Yeah, the Papal armies matched the Normans for mounted knights, but the infantry was inferior with far less armoured spearmen (and Norman quality and morale usually better -- was sometimes unbelievably hard to rout them). When the Papal knights had a good day, a win was possible... but if they folded early after first impacts with the Normans (wasn't always possible to get flank shots) then it was good night, Josephine.

Byzantines were just an unpredictable mess all round... even the Varangian Guard units could either stand everything thrown at them... or fold at the drop of a Norman chapeau.
